Neuromodulators
What are neuromodulators
Neuromodulators are FDA-approved anti-wrinkle medications used to treat moderate to severe lines and wrinkles on the face. Every facial expression creates lines as the muscles below the skin are engaged. Over time these repetitive facial movements will cause lasting, etched-in lines on your face. Dynamic lines are ones that appear as you make facial expressions and will normally disappear once your face returns to a relaxed state. Static lines are those lines we see as we age and are usually visible even at rest. Neuromodulators are commonly used to reverse the signs of aging but can also be used as a preventative measure to stop those stubborn static lines from ever forming in the first place. At Remedy, our goal is to help you achieve a natural, more youthful aesthetic appearance so that when you leave you still look like you, just a more refreshed version!
How do they actually work
All neuromodulators contain botulinum toxin type A, which is a protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This protein attaches to nerve endings found in the injected muscles and temporarily blocks the release of chemicals that cause muscle contractions in the face. By blocking these chemicals, muscle contractions cannot take place and the result is a softening of the lines formed from repetitive facial movements. The overall result is visibly smoother skin and a younger, more refreshed look. Visible effects can begin to be seen after 3-4 days however full effects cannot be evaluated until 14 days after treatment. Results can last up to 3 months with FDA-approved dosing, however individual results will vary.

Dermal Fillers
What are dermal fillers
Dermal fillers are FDA-approved, gel-like substances used to smooth out wrinkles and restore volume to the face. Fillers can be made from several different substances however at Remedy we primarily use those made from Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body and is responsible for retaining water and keeping your skin looking plump and hydrated.
How do they actually work
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts water allowing the skin to be more hydrated. As we age, we begin to lose muscle, fat, and bone resulting in loss of facial volume. This loss of volume causes sagging skin, thinning lips, wrinkles, deep folds, and an overall sunken look. Hyaluronic acid filler is used to replace this lost volume in the face. Visible results are generally immediate however swelling and bruising are very common so full effects cannot be evaluated until 14 days after treatment. Results can last anywhere between six months to one year with FDA-approved dosing, however individual results will vary.
